Fujitsu Bluetooth modules simplify wireless integration
Sunnyvale, Calif. — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. unveils a series of ultra-miniature, Class 1 and Class 2 Bluetooth modules that allows designers to add wireless capability to their designs. The new devices feature embedded serial port profile (SPP) firmware, a compact footprint and a broad command/event list to simplify and reduce integration time while meeting a wide variety of performance requirements.
The MBH7BTZ modules offer an ultra-compact footprint that is especially suited for designs with limited available board space. For example, a surface-mount MBH7BTZ39 Class 2 module measures 12.4 x 9.4 x 1.5 mm. Target applications include handheld terminals, mobile printers, scanners, barcode readers, portable health care and industrial control devices, and any Bluetooth-enabled devices for simple cable replacement.
The series is compliant with Bluetooth Specification Version 2.1 + EDR and the RoHS directive. It supports UART (9.6k~1,382.4 kb/s) as the host interface, and communication distances of 10 ~ 30 meters (Class 2) and up to 100 meters (Class 1).
To facilitate integration, the modules do not require any in-host protocol stack. In addition, they are Bluetooth certified as ‘End Product (QDID: B16068),’ allowing SIG members to acquire Bluetooth certification without any charge.
Availability: Available now, the MBH7BTZ series includes shielded, SMT modules either with an onboard antenna or with an external antenna. An onboard antenna module with a connector header to the host circuit board is also available.
