AUO invests in two JVs for TFT-LCD modules
Hsinchu, Taiwan — AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) has announced two joint ventures for TFT-LCD module manufacturing in China with Haier Group and TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited’s subsidiary, TCL King Electrical Appliances (Hui Zhou) Co. Ltd. The joint venture agreements are expected to expand AUO’s presence in all regions of China.
AUO and Haier approved a joint venture, under the name Qingdao Haier Optronics Co., Ltd., to produce LCD-TV panel modules. With a registered capital investment of $7 million, Haier and AUO will hold a 70 percent and 30 percent share of the new company, respectively.
AUO and TCL will own 51 percent and 49 percent of their joint venture, respectively. The joint venture, tentatively named Huizhou Bri-King Optronics Co., Ltd., will be established with a registered capital of no more than $12 million.
