AVX upgrades free tantalum capacitor modeling tool
Myrtle Beach, S.C. — AVX Corp. has enhanced its SpiTan software with new features for simulation and modeling of tantalum capacitors. The new SpiTan III software tool now includes the effects of temperature and voltage on DCL leakage current, equivalent circuits of capacitors with parameter values, and the addition of more than 80 new released codes. SpiTan III can be downloaded for free at www.avx.com.
The passives and connector maker has also developed a library of models for its tantalum capacitors. Five of the most common case sizes (A, B, C, D, E) are now available in a Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) format, which is widely used for data exchange and archiving. Models can be downloaded at AVX’ Website.
In addition, AVX has updated its SelectCap capacitor selection program to include all parts released in 2009, which can also be downloaded at the site.
