Philips Lumileds offers full traceability for power LEDs
San Jose, Calif. — Aimed at customers in the automotive and consumer electronics markets, Philips Lumileds has implemented complete forward and backward traceability for its LUXEON power LED products. The company says it is now possible to identify to the wafer level exactly when, where, and how each of the hundreds of millions of LUXEON LEDs was manufactured.
Philips Lumileds expects that as the LED-based lighting solution market grows, the lighting industry will also look to LED manufacturers and other system component providers for this level of manufacturing control.
Philips Lumileds claims it is the first LED manufacturer to use 2D barcode technology to uniquely identify and track through the manufacturing process.
