bostonpowerlogoWestborough, Mass. — Boston-Power, Inc. has announced that its Sonata lithium-ion battery will ship with the new HP Pavilion dv8 entertainment notebook PC. The battery improves the recharge rate by three to five times over conventional lithium-ion batteries, according to the company.

In addition to its 18.4-inch, full high-definition, ultra-widescreen, ultra BrightView display with built-in TV tuner, Blu-ray disk reader and subwoofer that delivers home theatre-quality audio and video, the HP Pavilion dv8 includes the new HP Long Life Battery, powered by Sonata cells from Boston-Power, which supports more than 1,000 recharges.

Boston-Power also touts the environmental benefits of the long-life battery. Since users need to replace batteries less frequently, this means fewer batteries need to be sent to the landfill. The company also claims it is the only battery with the Nordic Ecolabel certification.

The HP Pavilion dv8 will be available in Europe, the Middle East and Asia starting October 22, 2009, at a recommended retail price of €1499 (approximately $2,217 U.S. dollars).
